Resort History

The original Mount Athos Hotel opened in 1967 and quickly became a preferred retreat for the Greek high society, thanks to its outstanding harbourside location. After decades of service, the property was fully renovated and reopened in 2020 under new ownership — preserving the spirit of the original architecture while introducing a modern five-star standard.

Today, the resort offers 74 rooms and suites across the main building and private bungalows. Each space is designed with a focus on comfort, elegance and the views that define the location.

Location

The resort is located at the tip of Ierissos, at the end of a scenic drive through the Halkidiki peninsula. Thessaloniki International Airport is approximately 90 minutes away by car (105 km), while Kavala Airport is around 2 hours and 20 minutes away (170 km). Boats to the UNESCO-listed monasteries of Mount Athos depart from the harbour right next to the hotel. The ancient town of Stagira—birthplace of Aristotle—and the coastal town of Ouranoupolis are both within a short drive.
